1

War Pigs

Ronnie Brown

RB

Auburn

6-0

233 lbs.

4.44

TEAM NEEDS: RB | WR | LB | DE
POSITIVES: Great height, good build, nice hands, good speed. The overall package for a running back. With no true feature back on the roster leading the way, the addition of Brown gives Marc Bulger some great young talent for years to come.
NEGATIVES: Experience. Lack of playing time may have slowed development.
NFL Comparison:  Edgerrin James

2

Gladiators

Cedric Benson

RB

Texas

5-10

222 lbs.

4.52

TEAM NEEDS: RB | WR | QB | LB
POSITIVES:
Benson has the whole package; size, speed and strength.  He is a dangerous open field runner and is a capable receiver out of the backfield.  He has proven that he has the ability to dominate as shown by his stats in the final five games of the 2003 season. (862 yards, 11 touchdowns)
NEGATIVES: Doesn't always give 100%
NFL Comparison:  Ricky Williams

3

Matadors

Cadillac Williams

RB

Auburn

5-10

217 lbs.

4.45

TEAM NEEDS: RB | WR | DE | LB
POSITIVES: Cadillac fights for every yard and is a threat to score every time he touches the ball.  He makes up for his lack of ideal size with a great combination of speed and agility.  Cadillac gives the Matadors and immediate threat to score from anywhere on the field.  A definite upgrade from Warrick Dunn.
NEGATIVES: Not a great receiver and should bulk up some.
NFL Comparison:  Clinton Portis

4

Highrollers

Mike Williams

WR

USC

6-5

228 lbs.

4.63

TEAM NEEDS: QB | WR | CB | DE
POSITIVES: Good speed for a WR of his size. Can locate the ball well and rarely gets taken down on first contact. The Highrollers have openly expressed their desire to trade Torry Holt.  Williams provides youth and depth and if  he develops as expected, Santana Moss may find himself relegated to the bench.
NEGATIVES: Year away from football will take Williams time to adjust.

NFL Comparison:  David Givens

5

Toros

Braylon Edwards

WR

Michigan

6-2

214 lbs.

4.55

TEAM NEEDS: QB | WR | CB | RB
POSITIVES: Good speed for a RB of his size. Can locate the hole and rarely gets taken down on first contact. The Gangsters have openly expressed their desire to trade Green and Davis.  Johnson provides youth and depth and if  he develops as expected, Davis may find himself relegated to the bench.
NEGATIVES: Needs to work on routes and blocking.
NFL Comparison:  Roy Williams

6

Buzzards

Troy Williamson

WR

S. Carolina

6-1

203 lbs.

4.38

TEAM NEEDS: WR | RB | LB | CB
POSITIVES:
Some may consider this to be too high for Williamson but he is fast enough to be a downfield threat for the future in Cleveland. With the developing Rashaun Woods, Derrick Hamilton and Jerico Cotchery there, Williamson will have a chance to contribute as a rookie but not all of the pressure will be on his shoulders.
NEGATIVES: Needs to improve route running and blocking skills.
NFL Comparison:  Lee Evans

7

Surf Mark Clayton

WR

Oklahoma

5-10

193 lbs.

4.43

TEAM NEEDS: WR | RB | DE | K
POSITIVES:
With aging starters like Donald Driver and Marcus Pollard (31 and 34 years old when the season begins), getting new receivers is a priority. Clayton gives the Surf a dependable target who can play the slot and runs good routes
NEGATIVES: Lack of size may cause him to slip on draft day.
NFL Comparison:  Steve Smith

8

Islanders Alex Smith QB Utah 6-4 217 lbs. 4.75
TEAM NEEDS: QB | RB | DE | LB
POSITIVES: Shows good zip on deep outs.  Has a quick release and a consistent delivery.  With Collins' getting older and Drew Henson really never having much success, Smith will look to Fitzgerald, Shockey and Winslow to make his job easier.
NEGATIVES: Could use work on the deep ball.  Played in a spread offense so it might take some time to adjust to being under center.
NFL Comparison:
David Carr

9

Storm Roddy White

WR

UAB

6-1

204 lbs.

4.45

TEAM NEEDS: WR | LB | DT | RB
POSITIVES:
White has a great deal of experience and is not afraid to go over the middle.  He makes acrobatic catches often and has the ability to separate from defenders. White has a chance to make an immediate impact for the Storm as he should be a starter from his arrival.  White could become the top option for Jake Plummer if he develops.
NEGATIVES: Lacks ideal size and can be inconsistent at times.
NFL Comparison:  Plaxico Burress

10

Rebels Aaron Rodgers QB California 6-2 223 lbs. 4.75
TEAM NEEDS: QB | WR | CB | LB
POSITIVES:
Rodgers hits his receivers in stride on short slants and crossing patterns and throws an accurate deep ball as well.  With a very weak QB position, the Rebels must address the position to build for the future.  Rodgers will love having young WR's and talented RB's around him for support.
NEGATIVES: Doesn't have the strongest arm but still developing.
NFL Comparison:
Mark Brunell

11

Apollos Ciatrick Fason

RB

Florida

6-0

207 lbs.

4.57

TEAM NEEDS: RB | QB | LB | CB
POSITIVES: Fason has good size and excellent speed. He hits the hole hard and has the ability to take it the distance from anywhere on the field. He has good hands out of the backfield and will add some much needed youth to the Apollos backfield.  Should become a starter for the Apollos in his second year.
NEGATIVES: Experience.  Needs to work on his blocking technique.

NFL Comparison:  Fred Taylor

12

Irish Vernand Morency

RB

OK State

5-9

212 lbs.

4.65

TEAM NEEDS: RB | LB | CB | K
POSITIVES: Morency displays good vision, hits the hole hard, and is extremely elusive in the open field. He hasn't had many opportunities to catch the football out of the backfield (11 receptions in 3 years) and he really needs to work on his blitz pickups to be a starter for the Irish.
NEGATIVES:
He is a little older than your average PBFFL draft prospect, turning 25 years old prior to the 2005 PBFFL draft.
NFL Comparison:  Travis Henry

13

Hitmen Terrence Murphy WR Texas A&M 6-0 202 lbs. 4.45
TEAM NEEDS: WR | RB | LB | DE
POSITIVES: Murphy gets a good release off the line and has the speed to go deep or turn a short pass into a long gain. Once he has the ball in his hands, Murphy is a threat to take it all the way. Murphy should help the Hitmen with added depth at the WR position since Joe Horn isn't getting any younger.  May battle Calico and Jenkins for playing time.
NEGATIVES: Has trouble finding the endzone.
NFL Comparison:
Joe Horn

14

Silverbacks Marion Barber III RB Minnesota 5-11 221 lbs. 4.49
TEAM NEEDS: RB | QB | LB | CB
POSITIVES: Barber uns hard and explodes through the hole. He has great vision, good size and shows some shiftiness. Has good hands as a receiver and is an excellent goaline back and let his blocks develop. Behind Tomlinson, Barber has time to learn the game but could be important if one of the Silverbacks other RB's goes down to injury.
NEGATIVES: Has only average speed and runs too tall sometimes.
NFL Comparison:  Eddie George

15

Irish Derrick Johnson

LB

Texas

6-3

242 lbs.

4.54

TEAM NEEDS: RB | LB | CB | K
POSITIVES: Johnson is the best prospect at the linebacker position to enter the PBFFL draft in several years. He is an explosive tackler, with the speed and agility to make tackles sideline to sideline as well as to drop back into coverage when needed.  Johnson will be a key to the Irish defense for years to come.
NEGATIVES: Might need to bulk up to fight off blocks.

NFL Comparison:
Derrick Brooks

16

Gunslingers J.J. Arrington RB California 5-8 215 lbs. 4.46
TEAM NEEDS: RB | WR | LB | S
POSITIVES: Arrington has good speed and good vision. He can attack the hole and take on blocks. Arrington has the ideal combination of size, strength and quickness.  Coming off a championship season means that Arrington will have some time to learn behind Edgerrin James.  The Gunslingers hope Arrington can develop as expected to help lighten the load.
NEGATIVES: Lacks top-end speed and has a history of injuries.
NFL Comparison:  Dave Meggett
