Stingers Wheel and Deal!!
Stingers' fans have
reason to celebrate lately, as the front office began shaking things up.
After what could be viewed by some as a sub-par draft, the Stingers
brass have made some moves to solidify their roster for the future. The
trading of journeyman quarterback Trent Dilfer and underachieving Matt
Hasselback for Hall of Fame offspring Brian Griese and veteran Steve
Beuerlein was a much needed improvement for the offense. Coach Steve
Young was happy to see Pittsburgh owner Doug Shear Jr. pull the trigger
on a deal that sent second year standout Chris Chambers packing to bayou
country. The Stingers acquired Plaxico Burress, rookie phenom Clinton
Portis and next years 4th round pick in return. "This just
might put us over the top and keep us there" Young said, "We’ve got a
great stable of young guys that will bring a championship to the Steel
City soon."
However, the changes did not stop there. Shear was on the telephone
dealing with the cellar dwelling Montana Moose organization this week.
It seems that Moose owner, David Paul, realized his team was just plain
bad. Shear managed to get power running James Allen and backup WR James
McKnight for DT Fred Robbins and backup safety Billy Jenkins. Coach
Young however was unhappy that the team was unable to land some
defensive talent. Stay tuned Stinger fans, they may not be through!
