Each week, the head coach is to submit their football club’s starting
line up to the league commissioner and to the opponent. The starting line up will consist of
basically two squads, an offensive squad and defensive squad. The offensive squad consists of the quarterback,
a place kicker and five other players. The other five positions are made up
of either running backs or wide receivers. This can be in one of three combinations.
The first is a pro set formation. A pro set formation consists of two running backs and
three wide receivers. The other combination is a run-n-shoot formation. A
run-n-shoot formation consists of one running back and four wide receivers.
The third formation, is a no back formation. The no back formation
consists of five wide receivers and no running backs.
The defensive squad can consist of two different formations: the
3-4 defense or the 4-3 defense. The 3-4 defense consists of 1
defensive tackle, 2 defensive ends, 4 linebackers, 2 safeties, and 2
cornerbacks. The 4-3 formation consists of 2 defensive tackles, 2
defensive ends, 3 linebackers,
2 safeties, and 2 cornerbacks. The starting
line-ups are to be turned in 1 hour before the first NFL game of every week.
In the event of Thursday or Saturday games, only players playing in those
games are required for submission. The remaining starters may be
submitted prior to Sunday's games. Failure to submit the starting line
up will result in a penalty set forth by the league as well as not receiving
any starting points for the week.

Players score points for different plays, yards, and/or special performance. Each player’s individual performance will be tallied to come up with the team’s total score. The team with the higher score will receive a win and the other team will receive a loss. In this example, the
Tampa Bay Mutiny defeated the Colorado Goldrush by a score of 44.55 to 39.00.
Ties are allowed, but are extremely rare due to the decimal scoring system. The league standings are updated and posted on the web site weekly.

In each game, players receive points for specific plays and individual performance. The following is a breakdown of the scoring system:

a) Player Scoring
Offensive Players
- .013 points for each passing yard
- .025 points for each rushing yard
- .025 points for each receiving yard
- 1.0 points for each passing touchdown scored
- 2.0 points for each rushing/receiving touchdown scored.
- .25 points for each two-point conversion pass
- .5 points for each two-point conversion
rush/reception
- 2.0 points for each punt/kick return for touchdown.
- .5 points for each blocked kick/punt
Place Kickers
- .5 points for each field goal made
- .1 point for each extra point made
Defensive Players
- .5 points for each half sack
- 1.0 points for each full sack
- 1.5 points for each interception made
- .5 points for each forced fumble
- .5 points for each fumble recovery
- 2.0 points for each touchdown scored
- 1.0 points for each safety scored
- .2 points for each tackle made
- .1 points for each assisted tackle made
- .5 points for each blocked kick/punt
- 2.0 points for each punt/kick return for
touchdown.
b) Special Circumstances
Individual defensive players may play offense on occasion. If the
defensive player scores an offensive touchdown, the player is awarded all
yardage and touchdown points. For example, Warren Sapp, a defensive
tackle, scored 2 touchdowns during the 2003 NFL season. Sapp was
awarded 2.0 points for each touchdown, as well as .025 points per yard of
the scoring play.
c) Roster Position Clarification
The PBFFL uses FFLM league software to run the league statistical
information. The positional listing by the software is where a player
will be placed on his PBFFL club. For example, if FFLM lists Troy
Brown as a WR, he will be added to the owning clubs roster as a WR. If
there is a dispute regarding a player's position in FFLM, an owner has the
right to provide two current, legitimate and trustworthy sources to change
the players position. These sources can be NFL depth charts or
articles.

Should two clubs be tied at the end of regulation during the regular
season, a tie will be awarded to both teams involved in the tie game.
Should a tie occur in a post season game, the following tie breaking procedures will be used to break the tie:

In order for a player to be eligible for play in either the regular or post season, they must fulfill the requirements set forth:

a) Regular Season
In order for a player to be eligible for game play during the regular
season, he must be placed on the active roster.
At no point may a player from the developmental squad be started.
b) Post Season
In order for a player to be eligible for game play in the PBFFL post season,
he must be an active player on the active roster. At no point may a
player from the developmental squad be started. |
